A miniseries is a story with a planned ending and a fixed episode count—often called a limited series. You are not building an engine for season five. You are delivering a complete arc: four, six, eight episodes, then done (or a later sequel, on purpose). For animation buyers that is often the honest first product: enough world to matter, enough continuity to need a bible, not enough to bankrupt a first-time IP. Streamers use the label for prestige limited runs. Brands use it for campaign worlds that should feel like a show without pretending they have a writers’ room forever.
