Where it will live
Film end board, app splash, conference open, social bumper. Each has different hold times.
Logo animation
Logo animation is the designed motion of an existing brand mark: how it enters, resolves, and leaves a frame. It is a few seconds of identity for title cards, end boards, apps, and ads—not a tool that invents a new logo. Good logo animation respects grid, clear space, and sound. Bad logo animation is a template bounce that makes a serious brand look like a YouTube intro. Commission it when the mark will live on picture thousands of times, not when you still do not have a logo.
Definition
A logo ident (or sting) is usually 2–6 seconds. An end board may hold longer with legal lines. Neither is “make me a logo with AI.” If the mark is not approved, you are still in identity design, not motion.
The work includes easing, masking, 2D or subtle 3D, and almost always sound design. Silence makes even a good move feel unfinished.
Definition
Logo animation is a timed performance of a finished brand mark—entry, hold, and exit—built to sit on picture without fighting the film.
How it works
Vector master, clear-space rules, minimum size, and any “do not” examples. Screenshots of a website are not enough.
Explore two or three directions: elegant resolve, kinetic energy, product-world reveal. Pick one before polish.
Time to frame, add whoosh or tone, test over light and dark footage so the mark never vanishes.
Masters with alpha, 16:9 and 1:1, and a quiet version for contexts where audio is off.
Brief
Film end board, app splash, conference open, social bumper. Each has different hold times.
No squash, no cheap 3D chrome, no extra sparkles if the guidelines forbid them. Write the vetoes down.
Existing sonic logo, or permission to design a short hit. Many brands already own this.
Comparison
| Need | Commissioned logo animation | Logo-maker / template app |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Your approved mark and guidelines | Often invents or distorts a mark |
| On-picture test | Checked over real footage and both polarities | Previewed on a black void |
| Delivery | Alpha, versions, quiet pass, usage notes | One MP4 with a watermark risk |
